And it could be any day folks, any day...

Today is 38 weeks, 2 days.

So we had our OB appointment yesterday. Despite the statement at our last visit that it really could be "any day now," the more disturbing opinion of the baby taking "at least a week" was shared this week.



The baby is occupying the entirety of the belly. He is becoming more coordinated with his movements. I can feel little toes moving just in front of my ribs. I can see him keeping time to my heartbeat with his foot (he's got rhythm, probably not from his mother). He has hiccups a few times a day.

I'm finishing up work tomorrow and then am off until the baby comes. So far, no encouraging signs of labor or the like, except after a long day at work, when I'm walking I will usually get some Braxton-Hicks contractions.

I have reached the point in this pregnancy when I would love to be done being pregnant! I'm always voting for today. Ask me tomorrow, my vote will be "today." Seth is ready too. He's said several times this week that he would really just rather be holding the baby in his arms.

37 Weeks and Counting!

The day is coming (hopefully very) soon!

Our hospital bag is mostly packed. The baby's cute little clothes have been washed and await his arrival. The carseat is ready to go. The nursery is overflowing with baby paraphernalia. Now... if only baby would drop just a little bit to allow a fuller breath and less reflux! (and maybe allow an earlier delivery...)

We plan to deliver at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma. The due date is February 11th.

I'm attempting to be well-read and have started a couple books about nursing and feeding and sleeping. Strangely, there seem to be few books on the subject of changing dirty diapers or cleaning up messes.

Tomorrow I start my last full week of work before maternity leave.

We're getting closer on deciding on his name, but still are planning to announce the name after he's born.

Year 2009 in Review

The last year has been a big one for us! Since we didn't send out Christmas cards, we decided to share online.

Top 9 for 2009:

#9: Landscaping the backyard - a bigger project than we ever dreamed. Highlights: A rose garden, a vegetable garden, a perennial garden, lawn, a retaining wall and a patio. Whew!
#8: Skiing and snowboarding at Schweitzer, Whistler and Crystal Mountain.
#7: Spending a day at Pike Place for our anniversary, which ended with a gourmet fine dining experience at home.
#6: Both of us are blessed with employment at good jobs.
#5: Visiting Seth's Grandpa Caldwell in Arizona.
#4: Travels to Arizona, the San Diego Zoo, Disneyland, Oregon and Hawaii.



#3: Telling our family and friends that we're having a baby.
#2: Finding out we're pregnant.
And the number one highlight of 2009 for the Caldwell's...

Calm Before the Storm

Welcome to our blog! This is our first official post.

We're sitting here in relative quiet tonight, thinking of all that is to come. The baby's due date is February 11, and it's coming right up. Nesting is nearly complete and baby supplies litter the house.

Seth is enjoying his video game Christmas present and I'm trying to figure out how to blog so that we'll be able to update everyone about the baby when he gets here. So far, so good.

I'm feeling tired. With nearly 35 weeks under my belt, I've discovered the well-placed baby-bump tv-tray, the urinary urgency, the acid reflux, and the swollen legs and feet! The baby is very active much of the day. Most of the time I enjoy it (but there are moments...). We're scheduled for a crash course childbirth preparation in one day next weekend. My OB appointments are becoming more frequent, and so far the baby seems to be right on track and healthy.

We're getting very excited to meet our new baby boy!
