Welcome Josiah James!

Josiah James Caldwell was born on February 22, 2010 at 11:42 am at St. Joseph Medical Center. He weighed 9 pounds, 2.9 ounces and was 21 inches long.

He is so far a happy and healthy baby boy.

BIRTH STORY
The baby's due date came and went on February 11. By our February 18th OB appointment, we were one week late and had an induction scheduled for February 21. On Sunday, February 21, we went to the hospital early in the morning to be induced. We started with a pill to help soften the cervix. This stimulated frequent contractions and my water broke in the early evening. The contractions unfortunately were not in a regular pattern or very strong. Pitocin was started to strengthen the contractions in the early evening. By 3:30 am, very little progress had been made, even though the dose of Pitocin was approaching the high end. And from 3:30 to 9 am, no progress was made. At 10 am, a decision to have a c-section was made, and by 11:42 am on February 22, our little bundle was born!

We came home from the hospital on Wednesday, February 24. Mom has been very sore because of the c-section and has required lots of extra rest (which is hard to come by with a new baby!). Josiah is so far very good at several things: sleeping, nursing, sleeping, nursing, burping and messing diapers. He has not yet discovered the difference between night and day, but we'll give him a few more weeks for that. Dad has been able to stay home from work and help for a couple of weeks, he is loving this new baby boy!

Hope you enjoy the photos!

Evidently the Baby Wants to be Well-Done...

Forty weeks and 3 days. We are both anxiously awaiting our baby's arrival! Nothing to report yet, but we will update with pictures when he decides to come.

We've been walking quite a bit lately. Here are some photos of us on a recent walk along Ruston Way.
